Frequently Asked Questions

  1. SHOULD I HIRE A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER?

Hiring a professional organizer can be a great way to help you declutter your home, create more storage space, and develop systems for keeping your home organized. Here are some signs that you might need to hire a professional organizer:

  • You don't invite guests over often because you're embarrassed by your space. If you're feeling ashamed of your home, it can be a sign that it's time to make a change. A professional organizer can help you create a space that you're proud to show off.

  • You want your kids to grow up in an organized, clutter-free space. If you want your kids to develop good habits around organization, it's important to show them what that looks like. A professional organizer can help you create a system for keeping your home clutter-free, and they can also teach your kids how to organize their own belongings.

  • You avoid certain rooms or areas of your home. If you're dreading entering certain rooms in your home, it's a sign that there's a problem. A professional organizer can help you declutter these rooms and create a more inviting space.

  • Your home is a source of stress. If you're feeling stressed and overwhelmed by your clutter, it can take a toll on your mental and physical health. A professional organizer can help you create a more organized and peaceful home.

  • You have too much stuff and feel overwhelmed. If you're feeling like you're drowning in stuff, it's time to take action. A professional organizer can help you declutter your home and create more storage space.

  • You often cannot find what you need. If you're constantly losing things or spending time searching for what you need, it's a sign that your systems aren't working. A professional organizer can help you create systems for keeping your belongings organized.

  • You have piles of things you keep meaning to deal with scattered throughout your house. If you have piles of things that you're procrastinating on, it's time to get help. A professional organizer can help you tackle these piles and make progress on your decluttering goals.

  • You're going through or about to go through a life transition (downsizing, new baby, divorce). Life transitions can be a time of great stress and upheaval. A professional organizer can help you make the transition smoother by helping you declutter and organize your home.

If you're still unsure whether or not to hire a professional organizer, I encourage you to sign up for a free phone consultation. This will give you an opportunity to discuss your specific needs and goals. A professional organizer can also give you a quote for their services.

2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUT TO ORDER AND THE KONMARI METHOD®?

  • The Put to Order takes the approach of organizing by location. It is best for organizing one or two areas of your home. We will begin with a good decluttering session before moving onto creating organization systems.

  • The KonMari Method® is a holistic approach that will transform how you view your personal belongings. This process is ideal for someone who feels completely overwhelmed by their home and and wants a deep change. During this process, we will tidy by category, not location. There are five categories: Clothing, Books, Paper, Komono (miscellaneous), and Sentimental.

    3. HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

It is difficult to estimate how long a space will take to organize. There are so many factors that affect the length of the process:

  • the size of the space

  • the amount of items to sort through

  • how quickly you make decisions

  • whether you plan to purchase new organizing product or repurpose existing product

  • how much homework you complete between sessions

Some of these factors remain unknown until we actually start digging into your space, however, after our in-home consultation, I can give you an idea of which package might best fit your needs. Posted below are the estimates by area.

Estimates By Area:

Estimates can vary between clients. The rate at which decluttering and organizing occurs depends primarily on the client's readiness to make decisions. The rate will also be affected by the number of items in each specific area.
